Steely McGnome Predicts: Steelers vs Dolphins

I took a few weeks off in my final season, too much going on to worry about a blog I'm stopping.

But I'm back, Steelers dropped the ball last week against the Ravens. Now they get the Dolphins with former Steeler Mike "show me the money" Wallace.

Hines Ward BECOME ONE: Episode 12 - Pre-Race Nerves

This is the 12th episode in the BECOME ONE series, it is the pre-race nerves haunting Hines, you know a two-time Super Bowl Champion. Guess those nerves will always be there.

I have to say, for Hines Ward to go out and train for the Iron Man competition is kind of crazy to me. Since there is no way I could do this. Now if it's a Mile Run, 100 foot swim, and 2 mile bike ride competition, I'm in. Actually someone set that up, make it happen.

Steely McGnome Predicts: Steelers vs Patriots

Steelers 27

Patriots 17

I mean who knows what's going to happen, both teams really aren't that good this season.

And what and the hell is the deal with the NFL scheduling the Steelers and Ravens games in the 4 pm slot when they're not playing. Dicks.

Major Announcement from Steely McGnome

I bring you all here today, to give you a major announcement.

I will be retiring at the end of this NFL season. I've been doing this the 2008 season, and I love it and all. But I'm done. The only way I'll even consider coming back for next season is a Steelers Super Bowl win.

I've had my fun, but I'm done. Thanks for all the support over the years.

Go Steelers!

Steely McGnome Predicts

Steelers and the Vikings travel all the way to London to play an NFL game. Screwing the fans and businesses of a home Vikings game against the Steelers. Do you think the NFL will compensate those businesses for the money they are losing? Doubt it the NFL doesn't care about the true fans of this game, or the ones that pay for those expensive NFL Stadiums. Get the hell out of sending games to Europe. It's dumb.

Well, and there was that. Week 3 - Steelers vs Bears Recap

DON'T CARE!!!!!!

Steelers 23

Bears 40

In the beginning of this game it looked like a total blowout, then the Steelers made it interesting. But of course the Steelers fumbled, and bumbled the game away.

Defense played great all night, but they needed to play great on one drive and failed.

Ben needs to get his act together. He hasn't been the same since he was injured last year. Still plenty of time to turn the year around.

On to London, ugh. Stupid Goodell. The Europeans don't want us there. Stop sending games overseas and screwing over the home fans and cities. You're not compensating them, just lining your pockets.

Steely McGnome Predicts: Bears vs Steelers

The Steelers have yet another primetime game, right after they had a primetime game. Thanks NFL. I like staying up late in the same week to watch my team. Sorry kids, I like the 1:00 pm Steelers games. Get that shit over with.

Smoking Jay Cutler brings the Bears into town this Sunday night. I have no idea what's going to happen.

And it continues: Week 2 Recap: Steelers vs Bengals Round 1

Well well well. The offense showed a little more life this week, but still continues to struggle running the ball, sustaining drives, scoring points, you know all the stuff a decent offense will do. Hopefully the offense gets moving next week.

I know there was a bad call that kind of killed a drive, but good teams overcome bad calls and the
Steelers are not a good team right now. Overall. The defense and special teams are playing fairly decent at this point. But you know, not winning kind of sucks, and it's still early so on to week 3. Go read a better recap somewhere else.

Oh, and I got the score right. Just the wrong teams

Steely McGnome Predicts: Bengals vs Steelers Round 1

Division rival game versus the Bengals this week, and one pissed off James Harrison because the Steelers didn't want to continue to pay him. Oh and he's older and has back problems, he's just lucky a team actually signed him. Good luck to him, not really just being nice.

This week the Steelers faced the ginger haired led Bengals, and it looks like his evil twin does not approve of being decapitated by Woodley. Guess we'll really find out Monday Night.

Steelers 20

Bengals 10

Jergnome says:

For the Steelers to be successful on offense, they must make positive yards on every down, and score some points.

The defense has to tackle, tackle, tackle and not give up the first down.

What a way to Start - Week 1 Recap - Steelers vs Titans

Well, that kind of sucked in more ways than one. I mean three Steelers done for the season in one game. How great is that, Pouncey going out was probably the worst since DeCastro is the one that did it. I didn't even see Foote go out, that kind of sucks especially since the season he had last year.

Steelers 9

Titans 16

Someone had more confidence in the Steelers offense.

Terrible performance by that offense. Now I know Pouncey went out and he's the anchor of the offense and the announcers just could not let that go. But all of the lineman are starters in the NFL and they were constantly just standing around while Ben got drilled. Couldn't block for crap in the run game, would these other four guys even make the roster anywhere else?? Pathetic. Decent performance by the defense, can't expect them to throw a shutout every game, but if they hold teams to that many points I'm hoping the offense can do a lot better. There are still a lot of weapons on that team, get it together Pittsburgh or as far as I'm concerned the O-line coach and offensive coordinators better be collecting unemployment come January.

On to next week, one game at a time kids.

Steely McGnome Predicts: Steelers vs Titans

Annnnnnnnddddddd...we're back for another grueling NFL Season. Welcome, welcome.

Finally, I'm ready for the NFL to return. Football Sundays are needed. Now, I do not make yearly predictions, just weekly. I can honestly say I have no idea what the Titans are bringing anymore, were they decent last season? I can't even tell you, I know the Steelers weren't that sucked it.

Steelers 31

Titans 15

Jergnome says:

Take it one snap at a time and do the best you can. Control the ball on offense and dominate on defense and the game will fall into your hands.

A Zinio Giveaway - as they Sponsor Big Bite for a Cure

I was recently contacted by Stephanie at Zinio, they are a part of The Big Bite Tour and sponsoring Big Bite for a Cure. They will be at the Three Rivers Art Festival this weekend June 15th and 16th. When someone makes a donation to Breast Cancer Research, for as little as $1, Zinio will thank them with three digital magazines for free.

As a way to help promote they're allowing me to giveaway 10 digital subscriptions, I'll be giving away 9, because they said I could keep one for myself as compensation for the post. Plus I just started using Zinio through my public library and love it.

So, as much as I would love to make you jump through hoops to get this. I think I'm just going to allow the first 9 different people who send me an e-mail with Steely McGnome Rules in the subject line to win. That's simple. Failure to put Steely McGnome Rules in the subject line and you do not win. This contest will end Thursday at 12pm. High noon if you will.

Click the link below to check out what Zinio has to offer:

This seems pretty cool deal from Zinio as well.

I made some funny photoshops

This off-season we've seen some Steelers go, and some stay. Mike Wallace wanted paid despite not putting forth any real effort this past season. So the Dolphins threw a bunch of money at him, hoping he can be the answer to their terrible offense. Good luck Miami, he's only going to play when he feels like it, and since he got paid that will be never again.

James Harrison didn't want to take a pay cut, and thought it would be best to go to another AFC North team. First he tried with the Ravens, and they didn't want him. The Bengals decided to take Harrison in and give him a home. That's just wrong going to a rival like that. Sorry it is, I hope for the worst for Harrison at this point. Don't really care what you've done for the Steelers that's in the past. You now play for a direct enemy. Suck it.

Now this isn't final yet, Hampton could still re-sign with the Steelers. I hope he does and retires a Steeler. He's been one of the best nose tackles ever. Plus, I'll miss saying Big Snack.

Key Players For Pittsburgh Not Top Fantasy Football Performers

Recently I was contacted by someone at Fan Duel for them to post an article on my site, I got to give them a topic to go on. One thing that is really frustrating as a Steelers fan is that they kind of have terrible fantasy players, I normally stay away from the team when drafting. I think the article below illustrates my point.

Despite the Pittsburgh Steelers having high hopes nearly every single season, they have not really had a go-to fantasy football individual player for a while. In 2013, things look to be no different. So when should a Steelers fan realistically target some of the team’s top talent?

The top wide receiver for the Steelers in 2013 figures to be Antonio Brown at this point. Usually, the top targets for a team are poised to have solid overall seasons. However, many experts have Brown outside the top 20 wide receiver options in the league. That means in most league formats, he will be perhaps the third best option on a daily fantasy sports team. Don’t be blinded by being a fan, because in the grand scheme of things, there are quite a few better options.

After Brown, there is a chance that no other Pittsburgh player goes within the first 100 picks of a draft. That might seem crazy to some, but with a lack of legitimate offensive stars, that is the reality at the moment. Emmanuel Sanders will be targeted at some point though, along with Ben Roethlisberger, shortly after those top picks. Roethlisberger is an especially intriguing case, because he is one of those guys that appears to be better in games than on paper. He will be somewhere between the 13th-15th quarterback taken, although many would rank him in the top 10 in the league. If you want Roethlisberger, make sure you do not reach for him simply due to name recognition. Let someone else make that mistake.

Finally, the running back position is still somewhat of a mess for the Steelers, so it is no surprise that Jonathan Dwyer is not even a top 40 option at that position. He could be one of those players taken late, or in smaller leagues he could be completely overlooked in the draft. Until the Steelers show more consistency running the ball, this will be the case.

The ONLY two good things from Super Bowl XLVII

That's right only two good things came out of the most recent Super Bowl.

And they are:

1 - Ray Lewis is finally done playing football. I don't have to hear about his dumb ass anymore, yeah he was good and all. But his play wasn't all that great the for the past 8 years. Go away. Thanks.

2 - This is now two Super Bowl wins for the original Cleveland franchise. Had the city given in to Art Modell demands, they probably would have two Super Bowl victories to their woeful franchise. Cleveland Browns 2.0 has been a constant revolving door at like every thing and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Hahahahhahahahahahhahaaaahhahahahaha Take that Cleveland!!!

Go Steelers.
