Changing of the Guard

I knew this day would come.

Hines Ward, Aaron Smith, and James Farrior could only play for the Steelers for so long. I don't have to like, but the time has come. Those guys played their asses off for the Steelers and will be remembered as some of the greats.

I'm about half hoping everyone passes on Hines Ward and the Steelers can bring him back at the veteran minimum for one more season so he can retire a Steeler. If he plays for another team next year it'll just be wrong.

Farrior, he's slowed down a lot this past season, but at 37 the guy had a great season, great career. At this point he's eating up a roster spot.

Smith, really sucks he's had injury issues the past few seasons. I could have seen him playing a little while longer. Rotating on the line while the younger defensive lineman gain some experience.

I'm sure there will be more, but these guys were just stalwarts at their respected positions.

Happy Trails. You'll be missed.

Don't want this drama

Hines Ward entering the final year in his contract with the Steelers and it looks like the Steelers are going to cut him for salary reasons. If Hines wants to play one more year, bring him back Pittsburgh. Just make sure you let him know, he's not coming back after next season. He deserves to retire as a Steeler, if he decides to play after next season well, one he's dumb and two that's his choice to not retire as a Steeler.

He's earned that right, don't take it away from him.

Oh Joy, the Pro-Bowl

Oh fun, it's the NFL Pro-Bowl this weekend. What an awesome game, the best from both conferences matching up against one another. IT'S GREAT!!!

Re-read that with a heavy dose of sarcastic undertones.

The Pro-Bowl is lame, and not really fun to watch. Time for something different NFL, shake things up. Make it a flag football tournament. Keep the Pro-Bowl voting, just put the players on 4 or 6 different teams and have a tournament. Not every team gets the necessary players needed for a team. That means there will be a lineman or a defensive player playing the quarterback position or wide receiver or running back or maybe kicking?

I'd watch this.

Te-boned! Steelers vs Broncos WildCard Recap

Broncos 29 Steelers 23

Despite everything, the Steelers still had a chance to win this game in the final minutes of the 4th quarter. It's a shame, but at the same time with the mounting injuries to starters on both the offensive and defensive lines, how much further could they have went. Broncos played a hell of the game, their gameplan was dead on. Way to go Broncos, have fun, I hope you spoil some other teams hopes too.

Announcing

CBS number 1 team, Nantz and Simms. SUCK.

Officiating

I rarely complain about the referees, there's no point. But that team was horrible, they missed calls on for both teams, and called a bunch of ticky-tacky penalties. The playoffs are suppose to be a showcase of the best teams and referees, this was not the case for that crew. Better be looking into that crew NFL, maybe it's time for some of those old guys to retire.

Stumbling and Fumbling: Steelers vs Browns Round 2 Recap

Steelers 13 Browns 9

Last game of the 2011 season, as it turned out the game was unimportant to the Steelers playoff seeding seeing how the Ravens won their game against the Bengals. The injury to Mendenhall sucks, but knowing that Redman and Clay can run the ball as well will ease my pain. It's hard to blame Redman for those fumbles, the first one was a great hit at the right spot and the other was stripped out of his hands as he is about to hit the ground. Luckily they didn't hurt the Steelers, since the defense stepped up and shut the Browns down.

On to Denver to face Tebow.

Announcing

Kevin Harlan and Solomon Wilcots. Harlan was definitely trying to use up all his anecdotes in this last game and Wilcots just thinks he knows everything about the game. If he was that great, he'd be a coach and not a commentator.

Steely McGnome Predicts: Steelers vs Browns Round 2

Wow. Last game of the 2011 NFL Season, crazy. The Steelers need to win and need help if they want the number 1 or 2 seed. No help from other teams and they'll be stuck at the number 5 seed.

Steelers 30 Browns 13
