Steely McGnome Predicts: Steelers vs Ravens Round 2

Again, I'm being somewhat lazy by re-using an older image, but it's just too damn funny. It looks like the running back is staring at Flacco's backside and is amazed by it. Plus I just got a new computer and I'm sorting all of that out, you'll deal.

Bumbling and Fumbling: Steelers vs Browns 2012 Round 1

Yikes. The Browns smelled blood and went all out? Not really, the Steelers handed...er...fumbled the game to the Browns. It was bad, real bad. Just a terrible performance by the offense in my mind, except for the play of Heath Miller, Emmanuel Sanders, and Chris Rainey (even though he "fumbled"). Those guys seemed to be the go to guys making the plays on offense and should have been targeted more.

Steelers 14

Browns 20

I'm not a fan of Charlie Batch still being on the Pittsburgh Steelers. See here: Charlie Batch is still on the team? I mean the guy is going to be 38, hasn't played that much, or even been the #2 guy the past few years. So the Steelers let Dennis Dixon go, bring Leftwich (The most fragile person ever to play QB), and old balls Batch. Really think letting Dixon go was a mistake, he was young, a playmaker in his own right, and wouldn't break a hip after tripping over his own two feet like fragile man. Or at least draft a QB out of college last season to learn the offense and maybe manage the game and have the arm strength to get the ball down field.

With Ben being out, this is where questionable decision like that come back to hurt a franchise, sometimes you have to let go of what feels comfortable with the team to make things work down the line. Batch maybe the veteran guy who everyone else likes having around to guide them or whatever. BUT that doesn't translate to wins on the field. He had a great run as Steelers backup, but it's time for him to go.

The fact that every running back lost fumbles in this game for the Steelers is just terrible. All of those guys need to be carrying a football around this week and not allowed to let it leave their hands, and everyone else in the organization needs to do their best to get the ball from them.

As for the defense, they played great. Did the best they could given the situations the offense decided to put them in. I really gave it to the defense earlier in the year for not stepping up and playing well. Since then the Steelers D has really stepped it up, being almost lights out. I think it just took the young guys a while to get into a groove. If the offense would put up some points we wouldn't have any issues!

Mike Wallace continues to disappoint. Plaxico Burress showed more effort than you did today. And take a good hard look Mr. Wallace, Burress is your ghost of football future if you don't shape up. Seriously, at one time I would have been sad to see you go, but now I'm not. Your lack of effort is terrible, not really caring what you do for the Steelers the rest of the season at this point. Brown and Sanders > you.

Early Christmas Presents: Steelers vs Ravens Round 1

Another week, and another Steelers QB goes down.

Steelers 10

Ravens 13

I would have had the score dead on, but Mike Wallace and his wannabe #1 Wide Receiver money wanting ass made two crucial mistakes in the game. First fumbling a 3rd down catch that would have been 1st down and set the Ravens up for 3. Then Wallace failed to drag his foot on a back of the end zone pass that would have given the Steelers the lead. Am I being too hard on Mike Wallace? Hell and no. He held out because he thought he deserved #1 Wide Receiver money, and has not shown that he is even a #3 WR this season. He'll have fun playing on a shitty team next season. I am questioning his effort this season.

The Steelers should have had this game in the bag, they really dropped the ball against the Ravens. Because that was one of the worst Ravens defenses I have ever scene play against the Steelers. Their special teams were on point, but that defense is really off this year.

Other than that, it was a hard hitting Steelers-Ravens match-up, a kind of game most people find boring, but I love.

Oh and the off-sides penalty at 2:04 in the 4th quarter was a bunch of crap. The blindside dick flinched. Go back and watch it, you'll see.

Ouchies: Steelers vs Chiefs Recap

Still find it hard to believe that Ben got hurt from that hit. I've seen that man take hits that would have knocked other QBs out for the year. And that it took overtime to beat the Chiefs.

Steelers 16

Chiefs 13

Way off my outlandish prediction for sure. But the way the Steelers had been playing, I thought they would run away with the game. Running is something the Steelers couldn't do at all, in fact even with Ben the offense was pretty stale last night night. No running game and the lack of Antonio Brown didn't help at all. The Steelers offense was just off their game last night and it was hard to watch.

Despite the fact that the Chiefs seemed to be able to run at will on the defense they just couldn't move the ball when needed. The bend not break mentality of the Steelers D right there. Plus in the fourth quarter the D stepped up when the offense couldn't move the ball and got a take away at the right time. A win is a win in the NFL, and this game could have went the other way the AFC West dominance over the Steelers this season isn't going to happen.

Good thing I was drinking during the game though, I needed that numbness.

Tuck Rule need not apply: Steelers vs Giants Recap

I remember the game when the Tuck Rule came into play. I was confused as all hell, since it was a fumble in its truest sense. For some reason the NFL allowed this. Well, yesterday the NFL confused the hell out of me again, when they ruled a forward pass a fumble, and at the very least neglected the tuck rule. I had no idea the replacement refs were back.

Steelers 24

Giants 20

Steelers dominated the game, but you couldn't tell that by the score. A score in which I was a few points away from being dead on. Yeah. I rule. Another running back goes down, and another steps up and has an awesome day. I had no idea Dwyer was even hurt, shows how much I pay attention at times, but Redman put on a great show at running back for the Steelers yesterday. That guy just runs so well in a straight line. Send him to the outside and he's a poop sandwich. That's right a poop sandwich. If all the running backs for the Steelers get healthy, they'll have 500 yards a game on the ground.

When Antonio Brown went out, I was scared, he's the go to guy. But luckily Cotchery/Sanders really stepped up and Mike Wallace finally had an explosive play. Sorry, I'm busting his balls all season until he can show me he's a #1 Wide Receiver. That "fumble" just killed me, and the fact they upheld the call was ridiculous.

The defense was fierce, not a lot of pressure, but they sure did get the Giants offense off the field on third downs. Lewis had a great game defending too, he really stepped up. Just a great effort by the Steelers defense. James Harrison needs to fall on that fumble though, don't try to be a hero, you already are for recovering a fumble.

And I loved the fake field goal attempt. Why not??? If Heath blocks the initial defender, it's at least a first down. I love that Tomlin goes for it on 4th downs and makes a decision like this. And you should too!

Officials made some really bad calls, seriously they need to be full-time employees of the NFL.
